My Purpose Statement.
Born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, the University of Maryland, College Park is where I decided to pursue my higher education. I’m creating this eportfolio to document some of the work I’ve done during my time at the university. For some background information on me, I'm a child of two Ghanaian immigrants and being African-American plays a huge role in who I am. I’m proud of my African heritage and I incorporate my background as a person of color into the work I do.

My interests lie in both STEM and Humanities, which is what led me to pursue a degree in information science. On the STEM side, I like to learn how to program and find the inner workings of a computer fascinating. For the humanities side, I’m interested in making tech easier to use and more accessible to different demographics, no matter their age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, and more. I am also a general business minor, as I hope to take my technical skills and see how they can fit into the business world. In the future, I hope to use my knowledge to reach underprivileged groups to help gain them access to technological resources because as our society advances in technology, I believe that everyone should have a safe and dependable online experience. As a member of the College Park Scholars: Media, Self and Society Program, I hope to gain knowledge on how technology and mass communications play a role in our day to day lives.
